April Showers & May Flowers

April showers bring May flowers.
But what are we left to do?
Sit and await the rising flood.
Engulfed by the crashing waves
Of an angered ocean.
The withering stream
Now a raging river.
We hold tight to the branches
Of hopeful salvation.
Waiting to hear the words
Of glorious compassion.
The branch is slowly cracking
And it all becomes clear.
We’ve brought this on ourselves.
We lack the ability
To withhold a promise.
We scream to the sky
With a final cry of forgiveness.
Our last sliver of hope
Disappears like the light from above.
Engulfed by the crashing waves
Of the rising flood.
There’s nothing more to do.
These April showers bring May flowers.
