Evergreen

When I'm alone,
It's never silent.
Instead an evergreen echo sounds of labyrinthine dreams.

Confined, I can hear the laments of
Words that don't know how to fashion metaphors.
And thoughts that can't explain
My tendency to lose myself.

But for the moment, I am invulnerable.
Experience can't grasp me here,
Sheltered in the walls of my sylvan bastion;
Wedged in with screeching imaginations,
That leave skin moist with hope,
And stain minds with desire.
Blessed is this place, for ethereal dreams
are ravaged by reality.

But I am not content;
Plagued by temptations
That force themselves upon me,
Entangling their whimsical notions
Within my fingertips.
And their voices cannot be muffled,
When no one wants them quiet.

Never am I alone in this clamor,
Until I can decipher this maze,
But the sanctuary of actuality is mythical,
And I am left chilled
By the thought of leaving my labyrinth.
